How to dress professionally and still look young

By  |  6 Comments

This year I turned 30. And unlike many other people around me, I’m really proud and happy of being 30.

There are many reasons: one of them is that I still have the face of a teenager (when not wearing make-up). Another one is the belief that age makes you wiser and strengthens your confidence. My excitement also comes from the fact that I read a book called “A Woman of Thirty” (by Honore de Balzac) when I was 17.

Even though I don’t remember what exactly the book was about, I remember the image it conveyed of a woman at the age of thirty: strong, powerful, and ready to conquer the world. But no matter how proud I feel of getting older, I do feel a societal pressure when it comes to clothing.

When it comes to style, 30 is not an easy age

I feel like I want to look professional and young at the same time, even though those attributes don’t always go well together. I also started to be obsessed not to look too serious. It is as if I had an inner voice talking to me saying: “This is too old”, “this is too bold”, “This is for teens”…

Now I would like to answer the following question: “How should I dress professionally and still look young and sophisticated?”. Here’s the solution I propose to solve this dilemma.

Basic clothing item and the latest accessories

My outfit is made of the following: a simple black dress, but with a very modern necklace (from the current collection of Pull&Bear). A necklace that is not lady-like, but more edgy, a bit unexpected for office.

Then I added my personal handwriting: The coloured shoes (from Paco Herrero, Spanish brand). I finished my look with a bag from Parfois that completes the look and of course the watch by Festina that I wear every day.

How do I feel?

I feel like a professional and elegant lady thanks to the black dress, but my accessories are conveying that I’m young and keep up with the latest trends.

Dressing for the office can be tricky at any age – there is always a conflict between looking professional and stylish. But you can never go wrong with a little black dress 🙂
